Answer:

The coordinate of point R is 71.2.

Explanation:

First i am going to draw the situation.

We have point Q at 90, point S at -4, and point R partitioning Q to S in a 2:8 ratio.

So

We have that: QR = 2/10 of QS.

R is x, Q is 90 and S = -4. So

QR = 90 - x

QS = 90 - (-4) = 90 + 4 = 94

Then

QR = (2/10)*94

90 - x = 188/10

90 - x = 18.8

x = 90 - 18.8

x = 71.2

The coordinate of point R is 71.2.

On a number line, the line segment from Q to S has endpoints Q at 90and S at -4. Point-example-1
