How were women shown respect in the Cherokee tribe, particularly those tribe members living in what is now the southern United States?

They are equal to the men. They were given the same rights and respect that anyone today would get. They were able to divorce and have their own homes just like the Cherokee men would.

Cherokee women were the equals of men. They had the same freedom of politics, economy and theology. Women had autonomy and sexual freedom, could obtain divorce easily. They owned their own homes and fields, and had significant political and economic power.

I hope this helps you!
