It was the General Assembly of Georgia that passed the Act that gave permisson to the Lottery to distribute the land formerly owned by the Native American Tribes of the Cherokee and the Creek. From 1805 to 1833, the government of the state organized land lotteries in 1805, 1807, 1820, 1821, 1827, and 1833, for a total of eight.
