What is the difference between atomic number and atomic mass

Atomic Number simply refers to the Number of protons present in a nucleus while Mass Number refers to the total number of nucleons present in a nucleus that is protons and neutrons.

Atomic number is the number of protons that are inside that atom. This helps identify which element an atom is.

Atomic mass is the number of protons and neutrons inside an atom.
