DNA stands for DeoxyriboNucleic Acid (D for deoxyribo; N for nucleic, and A for acid). It's called that way because of having in its constitution a C5 sugar called Deoxyribose (From which comes "Deoxyribo"), The 4 nucleotides Amine Thymine Guanine Cytosine (from which comes "Nucleic"), and Phosphoric acid (From which comes "Acid')
