The bones in a whale’s flipper are the same as the bones in a dog’s front leg. What does this tell you about these two organisms?

Answer: A homologous organs are those organs that share a common ancestor. The characters in different animals are same because they were inherited from a common ancestors that has the same character. Homologous organs can represent when the bones in the different animals perform similar function.

Example: Forlimbs of birds, and crocodiles.
