Width = 8 m

Length = 3(8) = 24 m

Area = length * width = 8 * 24 = 192 m²

Answer:

The area of the playground is
(192)m^(2)

Explanation:

Given a rectangle with width ''w'' and height ''h'', the area of the rectangle is :

Area=(w).(h) (I)

In this exercise, it says that ''It is 3 times as long as it is wide''. Therefore, we can write this using the following equation :

h=3w (II)

Replacing (II) in (I) ⇒

Area=(w).(h)\\Area=(w).(3w)=3(w^(2))

Replacing the width 8 m in the equation :

Area=3(w^(2))=3.[(8m)^(2)]=3.(64m^(2))=(192)m^(2)

We conclude that the area of the playground is
(192)m^(2)
