If there are 36 boxes with the following dimensions and the stacking height limt is three, what floor space is needed to store the boxes? length = 6 feet, width = 3.5 feet, andheight = 5 feet

We will have the following:

*First: SInce we have 36 boxes and we can stack a maximum of 3 boxes, we will have to determine the base area of one third of the total number of boxes, that is:


(36)/(3)=12

So, we will have to determine the base area for 12 boxes.

*Second: We determine the base area for one box:


A=l\cdot w\Rightarrow A=6\cdot3.5\Rightarrow A=21

So, each box will occupy a base area of 21 square feet.

*Third: We find the base area for the 12 boxes:


A_(12)=21\cdot12\Rightarrow A_(12)=252

So, the floor space needed to store all boxes is at minimum 252 square feet.
