He's not correct. The area of the figure is 89 sq. ft.

6*8 = 48
7*7 = 49

48 + 49 = 97

but those two rectangle are shared with the little rectangle with 2 by 4
so this area = 2 * 4 = 8

97 - 8 = 89

How do I do this? (Number 8)
