Worth 50 points!! Identify the errors made in finding the inverse of y = x^2 + 12x.

x=y^2+12x
y^2=x-12x
y^2=-11x
y=√-11x, for x ≥0

Answer:

error is in step (1) x and y should be flipped.

Explanation:

Steps to find inverse should be

y = x² + 12x

x = y² + 12y

x + 36 = y² + 12y +36

x + 36 = (y + 6)²

√(x+36)=(y+6)

y =
(√(x+36)-6)

So inverse will be y =
(√(x+36)-6)

Therefore, error is in step (1) x and y should be flipped.
