Mr and mrs Simpson went to two movies. The first movie lasted 2 1/3 hours and the second one lasted 1 4/5 hours. How much longer was the first than the second movie?

Subtract the time of the 2nd movie from the 1st using a improper fractions and a common denominator.

2 1/3 - 1 4/5
= 7/3 - 9/5 ← convert into improper fraction
= 35/15 - 27/15 ←find a common denominator
= 8/15 (hrs)

If you want to convert this to minutes, multiply by 60.

8/15 x 60 = 32 (mins)

So the first movie was 8/15 hours (or 32 minutes) longer than the second movie.

Hope I helped.. ^^
