Pride can be a positive trait because it shows self-respect and high self-esteem which are important to ones well being. Pride can trigger a sense of satisfaction which is good for someone's happiness. Pride can be negative because it contributes to ones ego. Too much pride can make someone seem cocky and hubristic, making someone not very likeable.
