1 yard = 0.9144
17 yards = 17 * 0.9144
= 15.5448 meters

1 yard is about 0.9 meters. So you can do the rule of three, and let x be the number of meters that represents 17 yards:
1y --> 0.9 m
17y --> x
x= 17*0.9
x=15.3
So 17 yards = 15.3 meters
