$1.8 is correct!

Explaination:

60*0.03= 1.8

Convert the percent to a decimal and multiply the cost by that decimal.

Examples:
1% = 0.01
100% = 1.00.
50% = 0.5
200% = 2.00

If the equation was $100 with a tax of 5%, then you would do 100*0.05 = $5
