Let f(x)=8xf(x)=8x . What function represents a transformation of f(x)f(x) by a vertical stretch with factor 2?

a. g(x)=812xg(x)=812x

b. g(x)=12⋅8xg(x)=12·8x

c. g(x)=2⋅8xg(x)=2·8x

d. g(x)=82x

The given function is

f(x) = 8 x

Suppose , y = f(x) is function.

A vertical stretch by a factor of k means,

y = k f(x) , General formula for vertical stretch

Now the function is vertically stretched with a factor of 2.

Resulting function = g(x) = 2 f(x)= 2 × 8 x = 16 x,

Option (c) is right choice.
