x=total number of students.
65%=65/100=0.65
65% of x=26
We can suggest this equation:
0.65x=26

x=26/0.65
x=40

Answer: there are 40 students there.

proportion

x over 26 = 65 over 100
cross multiply
26*65=1690/100=16.9

16.9
Try checking problem over again
