Kate ate 1/4 of her orange. Ben ate 2/4 of his banana. Did Kate and Ben eat 1/4 + 2/4 = 3/4 of their fruit? Explain.

yeah actually, kate ate 1/4 and ben ate 2/4, 1/4 + 2/4 = 3/4 is true, since ur adding fractions with same bottom numbers (denominators) than u want to keep the same bottom number and add the top numbers (numerators), so 1 + 2 = 3, now put them on the fraction and u get 3/4. So yeah this equation is true, I hope this helps.

There are two fruits
SO, it will be 1/4*2
= 1/8 of total fruit eaten by Kate

Total fraction fruit eaten by Ben= 2/4*2
= 2/8

So, total fraction of fruit eaten by both Kate and Ben
=1/8+2/8
=1+2/8
=3/8 of the total of both fruit eaten

So, its not 3/4 of their fruit eaten. Instead it is 3/8
