Now, x × y = (a + bi) × (c + di)

= ac + adi + bci + bdi²

= ac - bd + i(ad + bc)

Now, y × x = (c+ di) × (a + bi)

= ac + bci + adi + bdi²

= ac - bd + i(ad + bc)

Therefore, x × y = y × x

And if ab = ba then the property is known as commutative property.
