The northern part of Mexico, in particular the territory of Texas, we ersettled by a wide variety of immigrants. In particular, this area received a lot of American immigrants after the Mexican independence. This was due to the fact that Mexican authorities allowed organized immigration from the United States, and by 1834, over 30,000 Americans lived in Texas compared to 7,800 Mexicans. This caused the Mexican government to be suspicious of the loyalty of the new settlers.
