The slower one: 22kph

And the faster one 26 km per hour

1) Gathering the data

1st cyclist: 4 km faster than the other

2 cyclists: 250 km apart

After 5 hours

2) Let's set one equation relating the speed of both cyclists

x = slower cyclist

x+4=faster one

There's a relationship between the speed

Speed =Distance/ time

time =distance/speed

And Distance=time*speed

So we can write this out

5x +5(x+4) =240 Distribute the factor, combine like term

5x + 5x+20 = 240 Add 20 to both sides

10x = 240-20

10x = 220 divide both sides by 6

x =220/10

x = 22 kph

3) Hence, the slower cyclist rides with a rate of 22 kph and the faster one 26 km per hour
