Two trains leave the station at the same time, one heading west and the other east. The westbound train travels 12 miles per hour faster than the eastbound train. If the two trains are 360 miles apart after 2 hours, what is the rate of the westbound train?

Do not do any rounding

Let x be the speed of the Westbound.
Then x - 12 is speed of Eastbound.
Separation speed id x + x -12 = 2x - 12

(360)/(2x-12) =2
360 = 4x - 24
4x = 384
x = 96
The answer is 96 mph.

D=RT
360=(X+X-14)*2
360=(2X-14)2
360=4X-28
4X=360+28
4X=388
