Final answer:

Both individuals and communities are important in preventing domestic violence, but communities may have a larger role due to their ability to provide support systems and shape societal norms.

Step-by-step explanation:

When considering who has a larger role in preventing domestic violence, it's important to acknowledge both the individual's responsibility and the pivotal role that communities play. On one hand, individuals must take a stand against violence in their personal relationships and seek help when they witness or experience abuse. On the other hand, communities have a unique position to offer widespread support through resources and services, create educational programs to prevent violence, and shape social norms that do not tolerate abusive behavior. Communities are closer to those affected by intimate partner violence (IPV) and therefore their influence is critical. They can either provide support to survivors or pose barriers; hence, understanding how they address IPV is crucial in the societal confrontation of gender-based violence. Both groups are important, but due to the capability of shaping societal norms and offering structured support systems, communities may wield a larger influence on the prevention and end of domestic violence.

Individuals do play a significant role in the opposition and extermination of domestic violence. But in all rectitude, it is the individuals that build up the community. Therefore, communities play the larger role in ending and stopping family violence. It starts with the individual, but a large mass of people making an important statement, such as raising experience of domestic violence would have a much greater effect than one person working around and complaining alone. When many are involved in this prevention, the demonstrations will have a much bigger effect on the common people. Communities consist of individuals, that perform the switch.
