What is a parachute made up of

Since this question is in the history section, the first parachute was made of canvas, a strong cloth made of hemp and flax. They then moved to silk material, a natural protein fiber used today in textile, because it was way more resistant and light than the canvas.
Later on, during world war II, parachutes were made of nylon because it was hard to get silk materials from the commerce.

Patachutes are made up of light, strong cloth, originally silk, now most commonly nylon. Hope this helps you out!
