The density of an object is 0.825 g/cm3. in which of the following materials will it not float? water, density = 1.00 g/cm3 olive oil, density = 0.920 g/cm3 ethyl alcohol, density = 0.789 g/cm3 citric acid, density = 1.660 g/cm3

It will not float in the ethyl alcohol because its density is greater than it, so it would sink to the bottom of the solution. However, it will float in the rest of them, it may not float as high in the oil, but it will still be floating.

Answer: The correct option is ethyl alcohol which has a density of
0.789g/cm^3

Explanation: There is an important role of density to determine whether a substance will float or sink.

The substance will sink, when its density is more than the density of liquid in which it is placed.

And the substance will float, if it is placed in the liquid having more density than its own.

Density of object =
0.825g/cm^3

And we are asked in which liquid will it not float, hence the liquid having lower density than the object will make the object sink.

Hence, the correct option is ethyl alcohol having density
0.789g/cm^3
