Hi there!

\large\boxed{x = 16}

x / 2 - 5 = 3

Begin by adding 5 to both sides to isolate for x:

x / 2 - 5 + 5 = 3 + 5

x / 2 = 8

Multiply both sides by 2 to have "x" alone on the left-hand side:

(x / 2) × 2 = 8 × 2

x = 16
