700-35x=450+15x
+35x +35x
------- -------
700=450+50x
-450 -450
------- ------
250/50=50x/50
--------- ----------
5 = x
So basically you set up this algebraic equation:
700-35x=450+15x
And then solve for X.
X is how many weeks.
So they will have the same amount after 5 weeks.
To get the amount just plug in 5 for X:
700-35(5)= 525
450+15(5)= 525
ANSWER:
5 weeks; $525

minus 450 both sides
250=50x
divide by 50
5=x
answer is 5 weeks
evaluate
