The biggest problem is that Marilyn stows away on a ship that cannot handle another person, and she has to be thrown off, into space, where she will die.

First of all the story presents a restriction. There is someone aboard the Sturdust, a stowaway that should not be there. She simply wants to reach her brother but ,as it is forbidden to carry passengers in the space ship, she is forced to abandon the spaceship and she is thrown in the open space. The problem is created by the restriction, the law that is broken and the consequences, the punishment .Both, the restriction and the sentence create the problem.
