Explanation:

The method is actually quite simple and only involves basic arithmetic. The first step is to identify the translations occurring to each coordinate. If we recall that an ordered pair is (x,y), we can assign the translations to each value. Let's take the first point (1, -3) to start. 1 is our x and -3 is our y. If we then look at the translated point we can see that the x value there is -4. Then we can simply subtract the new x value, -4, from the first one, 1, and get 5. 5 is the number that we have to subtract from the next coordinate set to get the translated set. This gets us the first value of the second point -8 which we got by subtracting our 5 from the -3 in the x. Next, we can do the y value. The process is identical. Subtract the new from the old, -3-(-2)=-1. We then simply subtract the negative one (or just add one) from the y value of the other set. This gives us a value of 8, 7-(-1)=8.
