Most of the ‘’ new’’ immigrants to the United States in the late 1800s came from Southern and Eastern Europe. The new immigrants are not protestants but are orthodox Catholics and Jewish in nature. The immigrants are short and dark in their appearance. The new immigrants are illiterate and unskilled poor labors who faced a lot of challenges in assimilation due to their cultural and religious differences.
