As I recall, Phillis wrote a lot of poetry with religious themes, mainly because she was introduced to Christianity
She also writes about her life and implements her experiences with being a slave and how much her life has changed after she was freed

Phillis Wheatley was the first African-American woman to gain notoriety as an author in the colonies. She was born in West Africa but sold into slavery at around seven or eight. While still a slave, she began writing poetry, encouraged by her owners who believed her to be talented.

Wheatley wrote extensively about the sun, which is often considered a legacy of her African background. She also wrote many Christian poems. However, she rarely discussed slavery.
