The most influential of the philosophers was Confucius. Confucius believed that the rulers of that time had tried to develop a society based on the example of great personal virtue. He believed that the key to peaceful society and a well-run government was order in the family. Confucianism, as the followers of Confucius became know, focused on human morality and good deeds. Confucianism is a system of moral, social, political, philosophical, and religious thought. Confucius established a code of behavior which influenced the culture and history of East Asia.

So in conclusion, the answer would be

A virtuous moral ruler would set an example for the country and lead benevolently, which would motivate people to obey his order and create peace.

Confucianism was a solution to the Era of the warring States, a period of conflict. Scholars were thinking of ways to restore peace and harmony to China.
