Pimples have a variety of causes, one of which is a bacterial infection in the oil gland at the base of a hair follicle in the skin. Maria found that when she washed her face with soap and cool water twice a day, she ended up with more pimples than when she simply rinsed it with cool water twice a day. Which of the following is the best explanation for this?. . . She was not rinsing all the soap off her skin when she used it, and it clogged her pores, causing pimples to form. . The soap removed her skin's natural oils which can kill bacteria, while the cool water left the oil on her skin. .

Ans.

Pimples represent hard, small inflamed spots on the skin, due to a variety of causes, such as by bacterial infection. Sebaceous glands present inside the skin pores release sebum or oil that gets accumulated in the pores and cause blockage.

It allows bacterial growth in the pores that causes infection and inflammation that leads to development of pimples. Our skin releases small microbial peptides and natural oils that inhibits the growth of infectious bacteria as a defense mechanism.

Thus, Maria is getting pimples because the soap removes the natural oils that inhibit bacteria, while the cold water left the oil on skin that cause blockage of pores and pimples.
