A fraction is a number that can represent part of a whole and consist of a numerator and denominator. The numerator represents a number of equal parts (the top part of a fraction), and the denominator tells how many of those parts make up a whole (bottom part of a fraction.

To convert a fraction into a decimal, divide the numerator by the denominator. For example, to convert
(1)/(2) into a decimal, divide 1 by 2 which equals to 0.5

To convert a mixed fraction into a decimal, convert it into an improper fraction, then divide. Here's an example on how to convert
5(1)/(2) into an improper fraction.

- Multiply the denominator (2) by the whole number (5)
- Add the numerator (1) to the answer you receive.
So in this case, multiply 2 by 5 and add 1. The denominator stays the same.
2 × 5 + 1 = 11
Answer:
(11)/(2)
