COVID-19 is a very virulent pathogen, yet it has not a high letality rate. If we see the statistics although ~ 10% or more of each country's population has been infected, less than 1% of each country's population has died. Therefore it is not likely that COVID-19 could reduce human population greatly. Besides, virus evolve towards less lethality forms, since killing its host is detrimental for the virus. Think about this, virus, as molecular pathogens need live hosts. If they kill the host they can not perform their cycle. This tendency has been seen with many other virus, it just kills a minority, we could say the weak ones. So, to sum up, as explained above it is not likely that COVID-19 could reduce human population greatly.
