$s+2(1)/(2)s+20=48\\\\ 3,5s+20=48\ \ \ \ | subtract\ 20\\\\ 3,5s=28\ \ \ \ | divide\ by\ 3,5\\\\ s=8\\\\ Solution\ is\ s=8.$

s+(2+1/2)s+20=48

2/2s+5/2s=48-20

7/2s=28

7s=28*2=2(20+8)=40+16

7s=56

s=56/7

s=8
