Rockefeller and Carnegie were both innovative during their time. They were in fact, among the five men who made America stand out in the business industry.
Rockefeller founded an oil company together with his brothers and also funded researches which were useful to eradicate medical conditions (hookworm and yellow fever).
Carnegie was very strategic in the business field. He made a telegraph office open for 24 hours which led to his job promotion. He also funded and invested time and money to research and develop a machine for the mass reproduction of steel (for railways).
