A variety of things can boost an individual's self-esteem, like the environment someone is around (i.e. friends, family). A time i had felt that my self-esteem was boosted was when i finally came out to my friends about my poor self-concept & self-consciousness. They were concerned, and asked for more details, so i told them. They told me not to worry about what other people think about me, as well as not to criticize myself too much. They also complimented me alot, and said i had good characteristics, such as a kind heart, and the ability to help & comfort others.
