1) The car needs to exert a force that is greater than or equal to the force of the trailer in order for it to move.

From the information given,

mass of trailer = 580kg

acceleration of car = 2.2 m/s^2

Recall,

force = mass x acceleration

The force that the car exerts on the trailer = mass of trailer x acceleration

The force that the car exerts on the trailer = 580 x 2.2

The force that the car exerts on the trailer = 1276 N

2) According to Newton's third law of motion, To every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. This means that the force exerted by the trailer on the car is opposite and equal to the force that the car exerts on the trailer

the force exerted by the trailer on the car = - 1276 N

3) Net force on the car = mass of car x acceleration

mass of car = 1400 kg

Net force on car = 1400 x 2.2 = 3080 N
