Define flashback and its effect on a traditional plot structure.

A flashback is a literary device that provides information about a character or a event, helping to clarify any missing piece to the reader. Flashbacks build and expand a character's background and personality through the aid of visual descriptions that take the reader back in time to a specific moment on someone's life.

On a traditional plot, flashbacks can provide a more enriching and complete structure by adding more elements that cohere the narrative as a whole.

A flashback is a tool used in writing to allow a character to explore events at a different time.
Sometimes a flashback can upset the rhythm of the story and have a negative occurring effect.
This is rare, most often a flashback serves a needed purpose by more fully examining a person or situation.
hope it helps
