So say I had (6x - 2)(6x +2) I would do 6x times 6x which is 36x. Then I would do -2 x 2 which is -4. So I have 36x - 4 so where would I add the exponent and why?

when u multiply an x and another x you get x^2 because theres two of them now so instead of 36x you would do 36x^2 and factor that like this (6x-2)(6x+2)
