I think the correct answer from the choices listed above are options 3 and 4. The result when dissolving a substance would be separating solute particles from the mass of solute and making a solution. Hope this answers the question. Have a nice day.

Answer:

i) separating solute particles from the mass of solute, and

ii) making a solution

Step-by-step explanation:

1) Dissolving a substance does not change the chemical bonds between the atoms that form the substance. The elements that form the substance remain bonded chemically: if the substance is a molecule, the covalent bonds of the elements in the molecule are the same, if the substance is a ionic compound, the ions remain being the same ions, just that they will be in solution.

Then, definetly, dissolving is not a chemical change, and no new chemicals are being made.

2) What dissolving means is that the molecules (in case of covalent bonds) or ions (in case of ionic compounds) are separated from the solid solute and form a solution with the solvent.

In order to the units (molecules or ions) of the solid be separated and form the solution, the attractive forces between the solvent and the solute units (molecules or ions) shall be greater than both 1) the attractive forces between the units that held togehter solid substance, and 2) the attractive forces of the solvent molecules.
