The discriminant is b^2-4ac. So, b=7, a=2, and c=3. 7^2=49-4(2)(3)=49-24=25. So the discriminant is 25

If the discriminant is negative, then both roots are complex numbers. Since there are no real roots, the quadratic will not touch or cross the x-axis.
