The 6 should be 30 in step 2 because you have to add 18 to both sides to cancel out the -18.

so
-18-3x=12
to get to -3x=12+-somthing
we must add 18 to both sides or
+18-18-3x=12+18
-3x=30
so 'The 6 should be 30 in step 2' is correct
x=-10
