A number halved and then halved again is equal to 2. What was the original number?

I think that the original # was 3 because if u half 3, it turns into 2 1/2 ,and if u half 3 AGAIN, it will then turn to 2. Hope it helps. Its like subtracting 3 and one half, finding the value of that and then subtracting the value with one half again.
