The diagonal of a square is calculated by :

d=s\sqrt[]{2}

where s is the side of the square.

From the problem, the side of the square is 90 ft

Therefore, the diagonal is :

\begin{gathered} d=90\sqrt[]{2} \\ d=127.279 \end{gathered}

The diagonal or the distance between Home plate and the 2nd base is 127.279 ft.

Another given is the distance between the Home plate and the pitcher's mound which is 60 ft and 6 inches or 60.5 ft.

The distance between the mound and the second base is the difference between the given distance and the distance we got from above,

this will be :

127.279-60.5=66.779

The answer is 66.779 ft or 67 ft
