Having already learned of the orders, colonial leaders fled Boston to avoid arrest. Gage decided to seize and destroy arms the patriots had stored at Concord, 20 miles northwest of Boston. On the night of April 18, 1775, 700 British soldiersbegan to march toward Concord.

Answer:

Explanation: British Troops marched to Concord because they wanted to capture, seize weapons (military ammunition) and destroy some military bases where there were stores and endowments of Americans who supported Concord troops.

Although the troops prepared to march to that town, before the great number of followers of the revolutionary cause, they withdrew because they saw their defeat imminent.
