- If EFG and GFH are a linear pair, then both of the angles added must be equal to 180 degrees. Since they must be added to = 180, you would add them as so:
4n + 23 + 2n + 13 = 180
- Combine like terms to get:
6n + 36 = 180
- Now, simply solve! -
- Subtract 36 from both sides to get:
6n = 144
- Divide 6 from both sides to get the variable by its self:
6n / 6 = n
144 / 6 = 24
- Thus, n = 24
- To check your work, fill 24 for 'n' in the equations.
4(24) + 23 = 119
2(24) + 13 = 61
119 + 61 = 180 - Correct!

Hope I could help!
