A simile is using like or as/ LIKE sardines in a can is a simile. A metaphor is saying the cat is the night sky for example. It is just like a simile without like or as. Literal language is saying that they actually are sardines.(Gross) Literally is saying it like this for example. The sardines were packed on the bus while on the safari because they wanted to get pictures because they were tourists.
