first, we get the placeholders on one side
x-2/7=3
add 2/7 to both sides
x=3+2/7
3=21/7
x=21/7+2/7
x=23/7
x=3 and 2/7
so the answer is D

First we need to group like terms:

x- (2)/(7) =3

We do this by adding
(2)/(7) to both sides:

x=3 (2)/(7)
