A line-angle formula doesn’t show hydrogen. Explain how to determine the number of hydrogen atoms bonded to each carbon in a line-angle formula.

Answer

The two end C atoms each in a saturated alkane have one bond to middle C atom, so the number of hydrogen atoms on them is 4 - n, i.e 4 - 1 = 3
